The Chickasaw characteristic of determination has paid off for Linda English Weeks. Her experience and love of the law began in 1977, when she worked in the Cleveland County District Attorney’s office. She later worked as the Judicial Clerk/Bailiff to the Special District Judges, as well as Clerk/Bailiff to District Judge Mike McDanel, scheduling secretary to Congressman Mickey Edwards in Washington, D.C. and office manager at the family law firm.
Linda English Weeks began law school later in life than most students, graduating with her Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma, College of Law when she was 44 years old. Her maturity and experience allowed her to take a new, fresh attitude toward learning – looking deeper into each obstacle.
Linda also received her B.A. Degree in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma, as well as certification from The Mediation Institute for Civil-Commercial and Family Law Mediation.
After receiving her law degree, Linda practiced at the English Law Firm until 2002. She then began working in Brad Henry’s first campaign for Governor of Oklahoma. Linda worked in Governor Henry’s administration for seven years and served as the First Lady’s Chief of Staff and the Governor’s Mansion Administrator.
She is currently serving as the Chief Justice of the Chickasaw Supreme Court and is general counsel at the Sarkeys Foundation. The Sarkeys Foundation is a charitable foundation that funds nonprofits across Oklahoma.
Linda is a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma, Class XVIII, and Leadership Norman. She is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Linda is a Fellow of the Oklahoma Bar Foundation, and from 1997-2000 she was a member of the Organization for Advancement of Women in Law.
